Everywhere you look, you’re looking back in time


When you look around at your everyday world, everywhere you look, you’re looking back in time.

When you look at the people next to you, you see them in the past, 1 billionth of a second in the past, to be exact.

That is how long it takes the light to reach you. Sunlight takes eight minutes to reach the Earth. So when you look at the sun, you are looking eight minutes into the past
